Description
This course is a survey of cultural forms, practices, and expressions as represented in and by the visual arts. The course emphasizes analyzing major works of art for their historical, social, and cultural value. The student will also recognize the various artistic movements in the west and gain knowledge about non-Western artistic media, styles, movements, and contexts. As a humanities course, Art in the Humanities explores the creation of art in different societies, through analysis and investigation of artistic expressions to understand causal influences and relationships between works and contexts.

This course fulfills the Gordon Rule writing requirement and must be completed with a grade of C or higher pursuant to State Board of Education Rule 6A-10.030.
