Admissions Requirements for Adult Education Programs


  1. General admission for the High School Equivalency Adult Education program:

    1. Must be 18 years of age or older.

    2. Demonstrate reading proficiency at the 6th grade level or higher.

  2. Applicants under the age of 18 may be admitted to the High School Equivalency Adult Education program if the applicant meets the following criteria:

    1. Demonstrate reading proficiency at the 6th grade level or higher.

    2. Complies with their district’s withdrawal process.

    3. Completes the “Age Waiver” process with their local school district in order to register for the GED® test.

    4. Completes a “Special Admissions Form for Students Under 18 Years of Age” with their local school district stating that the individual has not been found guilty of any of the following offenses:

      1. Distribution of drugs

      2. Simple battery upon school employees or agents

      3. Robbery

      4. Extortion

      5. Burglary of school property

      6. Criminal mischief or vandalism

      7. Possession of weapons or dangerous objects

      8. Indecent public conduct

      9. Battery upon another student resulting in bodily harm

      10. Inciting or participating in a major student disorder

      11. Commission of any felony

  3. General Admission for Adult High School Adult Education program:

    1. Must be 18 years old or older.

    2. Must require fewer than 10 credits to earn a standard high school diploma in the state of Florida.

    3. Must have a current high school grade point average of 1.7 or higher on a 4-point scale.

    4. Individuals must be seeking and have not already completed any high school completion credential.
